¡¡¡¡China Light Industrial (Yuyao) Molds city is the first mold industrial park in the country, which was jointly built by the National Light Industrial Bureau and Yuyao People's Government. It is a stress project of the ninth five-year plan of the National Light Industrial Bureau. Its planed area covers 1,500 mu, with total investment of one billion RMB. ¡¡¡¡Yuyao always has the title of "Hometown of plastics, Kingdom of mold", and its plastic process industry and mold industry have a good reputation in the country. There are no less than one thousand plastic process companies in the whole city, and formed three zones comparatively centralized. The molds manufactured in Yuyao have many advantages include low cost, short process cycle, strong cooperation and interaction and strong collective advantages, therefore, the mold city was appraised by the customers at home and abroad. Plastic mold processing industry is the pillar industry of Yuyao's economy, and the output of this line account for one sixth of the whole industries in the city, and the output value of mold and plastic process for automobiles only have reached 100 million RMB. Early in 1980s, the local process capacity has account for one fourth of this line in the nation. Plastics process and mold manufacture often go hand-in-hand and can never be separated, so it is obvious that the quality of molds will bring direct influence to the plastic products, and the quality of plastic product also can reflect the quality of molds directly.

¡¡¡¡Yuyao lies in the development area of the Changjiang delta, so the traffic is convenient. The Hong-Yong Expressway passes throughs the city, and it can reach to Ningbo Lishe Airport and Hangzhou Airport within an hour. Infrastructures are well furnished, all the large banks can offer international business accounting service, and other industries are meeting customers from home and abroad. China Plastics City, which lies to the north of the mold city, is the largest plastics distribution centre incorporates plastic raw materials, plastic molds, plastic products, plastic machinery and plastic additives into an organic whole. Besides, the Remote Far Industrial City, coordinates with the mold city, covers and area of 220 hectares, has attracted more than 50 companies that from Taiwan, Japan, Australia, Malaysia, German, etc. to build factories. Especially for the implement of the economic stratagems by the Yuyao People's Government and Yuyao Municipal Party Committee, the three city who are China Plastics City, China Light Industrial Mold City and The Toys City cooperates and develop together, which not only has local economic features, but also elaborates the advantages of the industries. ¡¡¡¡So far, with the great support of the National Light Industrial Bureau and Yuyao People's Government, the first period project has been accomplished, and total area covers an area of 130 thousand sq.m, nearly 130 companies have set up. Among them, the scale of Zhejiang Plastics & Molds Manufacture Centre is the largest. The National Light Industrial Bureau has invested about 30 million RMB in the city, introduced advanced mold processing equipment and auxiliary facilities from USA, Australia, German and Japan, and utilizing the advanced technology of CAD/CAM, the capacity of mold manufacture was put first in the country. There are nearly one hundred mold processing companies in the mold city, and some of them specially design molds for large or middle automobiles factories, even there are many little-scale companies stand firmly for their hard work and precise technologies. In the first period, the mold materials Transaction Centre has been put into use and is ever expanding. It is analysised that in 1998 the total amount of mold material reached to 50 thousand tons, account for one fourth of the amount of the nation. The Mold & Equipment Transaction Centre now is under construction. It is estimated that the building will be completed before 2000.

After the foundation of the mold city, it is estimated that the industrial output will reach 2,500 million RMB, and will bring 0.3~0.5 billion RMB taxation.
